Freelance Technical Writer

About the role

Swan, an embedded banking specialist that helps software companies add accounts, cards and payments to their products, is looking for a freelance Technical Writer to join its Documentation team. The team covers technical product documentation, localised help centre articles, partner e-learning, UX writing and partner communications, and the writer will shape a unified, user-centric content journey.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and migrate content in a docs-as-code workflow (Git, Markdown/MDX), including moving help centre articles into version-controlled repositories with peer review.
• Independently write clear, accurate content for moderately complex features, such as user guides, help centre articles and UI copy.
• Use approved AI tools responsibly to speed up workflows, keeping the final content accurate and human.
• Work with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Customer Experience and Implementation teams to gather requirements and manage expectations.
• Use Zendesk, the CMS and the docs-as-code tools effectively, and suggest process improvements.
• Manage each content asset from creation to publication and track its performance with dashboards.

Required profile

• Proven technical writing experience, typically 3+ years, managing several projects at once.
• Strong editorial eye, able to self-edit and review peers' work.
• Proactive, fast-paced go-getter who gathers user and team feedback.
• Able to learn and explain moderately complex technical concepts independently.
• Applies accessibility and localisation best practices.

Required skills

• Fluency in Git and Markdown or MDX, with prior docs-as-code experience.
• Experience migrating content across frameworks is a strong plus.
