Senior Software Engineer - Circularity Order Lifecycle

About the role

Back Market is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Circularity Order Lifecycle squad, which builds the Trade-in program that lets customers exchange old devices for cash toward a refurbished purchase. The squad of seven engineers, an engineering manager and a product manager works with designers, data analysts, operations and business partners, and the engineer reports to the group's Staff engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Build, launch, monitor and support features in an agile environment where teams own their product.
• Write clean, consistent and well-organized code and help colleagues create a learning and sharing environment.
• Facilitate discussions on complex issues and suggest improvements to existing designs and architectures.
• Explore technologies with significant potential impact and contribute to incident mitigation.
• Prioritize tasks that optimize delivery and advocate for them.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Go (primary requirement) and proven experience with Python.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, with experience building and maintaining high-traffic backend services and regular feature delivery.
• Ability to deliver high-quality, non-disruptive production releases with strong SDLC knowledge and comprehensive testing.
• Experience building observability systems (monitoring, alerting, tracing) and incident management and on-call experience.
• Autonomous work within squad scope, with documentation and code reviews.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Go and Python; microservices architecture.
• Vue.js, React or similar, with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• API design (REST, GraphQL).
• Observability and incident management.

The technical stack includes FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Golang, Django (being phased out), Nuxt, Revolve, BigQuery, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, ArgoCD and CircleCI. The role is hybrid in Paris, with 3 days a week in the office (Monday mandatory).
