Operations Data & Automation Apprentice

About the role

Back Market is a global marketplace for refurbished electronics and runs Trade-in, which lets customers sell used devices to professional refurbishers. The Operations Data & Automation Apprentice works within Trade-in Operations, close to day-to-day operations, to understand how the service works end to end and to use data, automation, AI and process improvement to make it simpler, faster and more scalable. The apprenticeship starts in January 2027, lasts ideally 12 months (24 months to be discussed) and is based in Bordeaux.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Trade-in Catalog and product matching, monitor pricing and identify inconsistencies
• Support seller limit adjustments, seller reactivation, customer and agent-facing content, and transactional CRM communications
• Monitor fraud-related processes and investigate operational issues, coordinating incident resolution
• Analyse data to find recurring issues and root causes, and build or improve reports, dashboards, alerts and monitoring
• Simplify manual workflows, prototype automation with available tools, AI and workflow platforms, and document processes as playbooks
• Track the impact of improvements on incident rates, manual effort, customer and seller experience, and contribute to improving the AI chatbot for customer support
• Help standardise processes, design scalable workflows and controls, and prepare the service for expansion to more countries and categories

Required profile

• Hands-on, curious and solutions-oriented, comfortable starting with operational execution
• Comfortable with spreadsheets, data extraction (SQL) and analysis
• Curious about automation, AI and tools such as Braze, Intercom, Zapier, Workato, Tableau and Omni
• Clear written and spoken English
• Already enrolled in a French work-study program (contrat d'alternance / apprentissage)
