Senior Engineering Manager (Hands-on) - Offer

About the role

Alan builds prevention insurance, integrating insurance, prevention and care into a single user experience, and partners with 40,000+ companies covering more than 1 million members. This Senior Engineering Manager (Hands-on) role leads the Offer Area, which owns the full lifecycle of insurance offers (health, life and disability insurance, employee benefits) across four countries. The position is based in Paris.

Key responsibilities

• Own the offer lifecycle: help Sales build compliant offers in minutes with a real-time pricer and AI assistance, and give Business Ops the tools to manage a portfolio of 100,000+ contracts
• Shape the shared "Core Stack" architecture that replaces country-by-country code, with Spain already running on it and France next
• Lead AI-native underwriting, including smart alternatives, price explanations and pitching, and expand life and disability as a first-class product
• Hire, shape and run the team, and decide what it works on
• Set engineering excellence standards, call architecture calls, define quality standards, shape the organisation and incident response, and stay hands-on with code

Required profile

• 3+ years leading engineering teams, with a track record of building high performers
• Partner with product and other functions as an equal, helping shape the roadmap and trade-offs
• Comfortable with modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools
• Curious, self-starting, collaborative, and eager to grow; develops people as much as products
• Excited by healthcare technology and innovation; ex-founders are typically a good fit

Required skills

• Experience establishing engineering excellence standards and guiding architectural decisions
• First-hand experience shipping AI or LLM products to production is a big plus
• Eager to keep writing code, reviewing it and shipping some yourself
