Backend Software Engineer (Rust)

About the role

amo is looking for early members of its Backend team in Paris. In the first months you will work closely with the team and gradually take ownership of central components and features. The backend team handles both server-side and the backbone of the client, covering network, data modelling, management and synchronisation. The company works onsite 5 days a week in a central Paris office near Opera.

Key responsibilities

• Develop systems that handle large traffic and data and scale horizontally, using carefully chosen modern technologies.
• Maintain a shared Rust component used by iOS and Android, focused on networking, data synchronisation and data-oriented feature logic, collaborating with mobile engineers on a unified codebase.
• Take part in brainstorming sessions to design and implement features.
• Monitor analytics and manage system crashes, and proactively triage bug fixes.

Required profile

• Experience writing Rust (open-source or professional) or another low-level systems language such as C++, C or OCaml.
• Experience with distributed systems in production (e.g. Redpanda/Kafka, ScyllaDB/Cassandra).
• A strong opinion on building products in the consumer social domain is preferred.
• No French or perfect English required; the company helps newcomers ramp up.
