Legal Counsel – Commercial E‑commerce (Paris)

About the role

AliExpress is seeking a Commercial Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team in Paris. You will support the consumer‑facing e‑commerce platform across Europe, advising on regulatory, contractual and compliance matters as the business expands internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Advise business units on legal aspects of new and existing e‑commerce offerings, focusing on European markets.
• Support the drafting, negotiation and review of commercial agreements, policies and contracts.
• Respond to document requests from government regulators and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Provide guidance on platform compliance, logistics, customs, tariffs and product‑listing requirements.
• Research local laws, manage outside counsel and develop in‑house legal tools.
• Conduct training sessions for business teams on legal risk and compliance.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in an EU jurisdiction.
• 5‑7 years of relevant experience, preferably in‑house at a leading e‑commerce platform or multinational corporation.
• Proven experience handling regulatory investigations by EU customs, tax or other authorities.
• Fluent English; additional fluency in French or Chinese is a plus.
• High integrity, independent judgment and a proactive risk‑management approach.
