Data Analyst – Optimize Matching Logic

About the role

Malt is looking for a Data Analyst to improve the internal matching algorithm that connects clients with the right freelancers. You will join a 30‑person data team and work closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product and business teams to analyse performance, run deep‑dives and provide actionable recommendations.
• Build and deploy data products, dashboards and A/B testing frameworks to measure the impact of new matching algorithms.
• Evaluate feature releases, focusing on conversion and opportunity creation rates around AI‑driven search tools.
• Create high‑quality datasets, foundational metrics and self‑service reporting layers for stakeholders.
• Develop internal tools and training that enable product managers and engineers to launch features autonomously.
• Promote data and AI culture by modelling databases, semantic layers and sharing insights on freelancer‑client interactions.

Required profile

• Higher education in a quantitative or engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst in fast‑paced product environments.
• Strong business and product acumen to translate user pain points into measurable metrics.
• Full‑stack data analyst capable of writing perfect SQL, handling ETL processes, using dbt and scripting in Python.
• Comfortable with data‑visualisation tools such as Looker, Metabase or Tableau.
