Software Design Assurance Engineer – Embedded Systems

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Software Design Assurance Engineer to join its Hardware/Software Qualification department in Toulouse. You will help define quality validation frameworks and ensure that airborne software meets certification standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess tier‑1 suppliers throughout the embedded software development lifecycle.
• Lead rigorous software design reviews to guarantee compliance with DO‑178.
• Identify, mitigate and report development risks and maturity bottlenecks.
• Coordinate airworthiness certification requirements with external aviation authorities.
• Define internal quality processes and support the rollout of standard development methodologies across the group.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in embedded software development or software systems engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of the DO‑178 software assurance standard.
• Familiarity with related standards such as DO‑330, DO‑331, DO‑332, DO‑200 or Airbus ABD0100.
• Experience with model‑based development tools (e.g., Simulink, SCADE) is a strong asset.
