Senior System Engineer (Virtualization)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Engineer with deep expertise in virtualization to join a globally distributed engineering team. The role is fully remote and based in France, focusing on designing, operating and evolving enterprise‑grade VMware and Microsoft Hyper‑V environments that support high‑availability digital products used by millions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer and continuously optimise VMware (ESXi, vCenter) and Microsoft Hyper‑V platforms.
• Manage Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure (vSAN) and traditional SAN‑based storage, ensuring high availability, performance and scalability.
• Lead lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, migrations and hybrid/cloud integration.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning and apply reliability‑engineering practices.
• Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, networking and support teams to resolve production incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Implement and maintain backup, disaster‑recovery and storage solutions following enterprise best practices.
• Develop automation scripts and tools to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and drive continuous improvement of procedures.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization technologies at enterprise scale.
• Proven expertise in VMware vSAN deployment, administration and performance tuning.
• Solid background with Microsoft Hyper‑V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager.
• Strong knowledge of virtual networking concepts (vSwitches, Distributed Switches, VLANs, NIC teaming).
• Practical experience with SAN storage technologies (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, FCoE).
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python or Bash.
