Senior HPC Engineer

About the role

As a Senior HPC Engineer you will play a central role in scaling and optimizing the computational backbone of our chip simulation workflows. You will work closely with quantum theorists, experimentalists and software engineers to design, optimise and maintain high‑performance scientific software and compute back‑ends supporting quantum chip design and calibration.

Key responsibilities

• Drive performance improvements of scientific computing tools using state‑of‑the‑art HPC techniques across CPU and GPU architectures in cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Profile, diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks at algorithm, implementation and hardware levels.
• Build and scale distributed simulation pipelines to support increasingly complex quantum system models.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in scientific computing, applied mathematics or computer science.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, maintaining and optimizing production‑grade scientific software, with at least 2 years in an industrial environment.
• Professional‑level English proficiency, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Strong programming expertise in Python, JAX and Rust.
• HPC skills including CPU parallelisation (MPI, OpenMP), GPU computing, workload scheduling and orchestration across heterogeneous systems.
• Performance profiling and optimisation, finite‑precision arithmetic and numerical methods for linear algebra.
