Senior Freelance Analytics Engineer

About the role

Swan, a leading European fintech offering embedded banking services, is looking for a Senior Freelance Analytics Engineer to join the Data team for a 3‑to‑6‑month contract. You will bridge the transition between the current Analytics Engineer and their successor, ensuring both business data marts and regulatory reporting models remain reliable and well‑documented.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data marts for core product domains such as payments and onboarding, collaborating closely with product and tech teams.
• Run and monitor regulatory reporting models daily, fixing failures and evolving them as requirements change while guaranteeing consistency across all reports.
• Document models, tests and data lineage to enable a seamless handover to the next Analytics Engineer.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering, with end‑to‑end ownership of production models.
• Strong communication skills in English, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in fintech, banking or regulatory reporting environments is a plus.

Required skills

• Expert SQL and hands‑on experience with Snowflake.
• Proficiency with dbt (macros, tests, incremental models, packages).
• Git workflows, code review and CI for data projects.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and ability to validate their output.
