Legal Counsel – In‑house Commercial & Consumer Law

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially‑savvy Legal Counsel to join a high‑performing in‑house team of a large international consumer‑focused organisation. The role provides strategic legal support across multiple jurisdictions and business functions, partnering closely with senior executives on commercial and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical and strategic legal guidance on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters.
• Lead legal advice on consumer protection and customer‑facing issues, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations across several markets.
• Advise on competition and antitrust matters, supporting business activities throughout Europe.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to manage governance, regulatory and compliance initiatives.
• Oversee data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR compliance and policy development.
• Support senior management in assessing legal and commercial risk to enable informed decision‑making.
• Contribute to the development of legal frameworks, controls and best practices across the organisation.

Required profile

• Approximately 10–15 years of post‑qualification legal experience, primarily in France.
• Advanced drafting ability in French.
• Proven success in a senior in‑house legal position.
• Extensive experience advising on commercial legal matters, consumer law and European competition/antitrust law.
• Strong track record of managing complex legal issues across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience in automotive, retail, logistics, consumer services or similar operational sectors is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced legal drafting in French.
• Deep knowledge of EU consumer protection regulations.
• Expertise in GDPR and data‑privacy compliance.
• Strong understanding of European competition and antitrust law.
