Legal Counsel – Commercial

About the role

Join AXA XL’s collaborative commercial, sourcing, and procurement legal team in Paris. You will provide comprehensive legal support across a wide range of business functions, helping the company navigate complex commercial and procurement matters in a fast‑paced, international financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate diverse commercial and procurement agreements, including IT MSAs, SaaS contracts, consulting, licensing, NDAs, service agreements, SOWs, PoCs, research/funding, sponsorships, and contract variations.
• Provide legal advice for French‑law and global sourcing/procurement contracts, supporting teams such as Marketing, Sustainability, and Risk Consulting.
• Maintain and update contract templates and manage the team’s SharePoint site.
• Collaborate with APAC/EU (re)insurance lawyers and AXA Group colleagues on commercial law issues.
• Monitor legal developments in France, including DORA and AI‑related regulations.
• Assist in managing external law firms and alternative legal service providers.

Required profile

• Strong experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts, including cross‑border matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload proactively, and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communicator comfortable engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Resilient, adaptable, and calm under pressure in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Microsoft Teams.
• Familiarity with SharePoint for contract management.
• Knowledge of AI tools is a plus.
