Lead Fraud & AML Operations

About the role

Pennylane is building its first‑line transaction monitoring and fraud operations for a new regulated payment entity. As the Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Operations Lead, you will design, launch and scale these functions, working closely with Product, Compliance, Risk and Tech.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end first‑line transaction monitoring and fraud operations for business customers, ensuring alert triage, investigations, customer outreach and escalations meet compliance policies and SLAs.
• Translate AML/CFT and fraud policies into operational procedures, decision trees and analyst playbooks, and provide evidence‑based recommendations to improve alert quality.
• Recruit, onboard and lead a team of transaction‑monitoring and fraud analysts, establishing performance frameworks, SLAs, productivity metrics and hiring plans.
• Partner with Product and Tech to test and improve monitoring, fraud and back‑office workflows, prioritising automation while preserving necessary manual controls.

Required profile

• Significant experience in transaction monitoring, fraud or broader financial‑crime operations within a regulated financial‑services environment.
• Proven leadership of operational teams handling alert queues or investigations, with a hands‑on player‑coach approach.
• Strong understanding of first‑line alert handling, AML/CFT expectations in France and Europe (ACPR, TRACFIN), and ability to translate policy into SOPs.
• Fluent in French and English, based in France with a preference for Paris.
