Finance Support Consultant (IC)

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Finance Support Consultant (IC) to assist the Chief of Administration in overseeing financial planning, monitoring and resource utilization for the Climate Change and Industry & Economy divisions in Paris.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the focal point for financial analysis and oversight, supporting effective budgeting and resource allocation.
• Conduct financial analysis, monitor budget implementation, track expenditure trends and prepare forecasts and management reports.
• Support operational cost‑recovery processes, including analysis, reconciliation and reporting with programme teams.
• Review financial and administrative transactions to ensure compliance with UN Delegation of Authority, Financial Regulations and related policies.
• Provide strategic financial advice through reports, briefs, dashboards and recommendations.
• Coordinate with programme, finance, budget and administrative teams across divisions, headquarters and regional offices.
• Identify financial risks and control weaknesses, contributing to stronger internal controls and reporting systems.
• Assist with financial planning, budget preparation, forecasting, year‑end closure and other corporate financial exercises.
• Prepare periodic and ad‑hoc analyses, reports and documentation for audits, donor reporting and senior management.
• Provide day‑to‑day financial and operational support to the Chief of Administration.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting and reporting, preferably within an international or multilateral organization.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, internal controls and cost‑recovery mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, communication and coordination skills.
