Director of Business Development (Apparel)

About the role

This part‑time, remote consultancy position is focused on expanding the French market for a leading global knitwear sourcing business. The Director of Business Development will work closely with cross‑functional teams to uncover new opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and drive revenue growth across the apparel sector.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a business development strategy aligned with corporate growth targets for the French fashion market.
• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
• Build and maintain relationships with retailers, brands, sourcing organisations, and key industry stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations and secure long‑term commercial agreements.
• Collaborate with sales, merchandising, product development, and operations to ensure alignment on customer requirements.
• Analyse market trends, customer feedback, and competitive activity to inform business planning.
• Drive customer acquisition and account development within the knitwear and apparel sectors.
• Monitor performance metrics and report on business development outcomes.
• Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
• Mentor and manage commercial team members to foster high performance.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in business development, sales or commercial leadership within the apparel or textile industry.
• Established network of contacts across retailers, brands, buying offices and sourcing organisations in France.
• Proven track record of driving revenue growth and securing new business.
• Strong understanding of apparel markets, product development, sourcing and supply‑chain dynamics.
