Associate / VP – Export & Agency Finance (Paris)

About the role

The role is part of Santander CIB’s #1 Export Credit Agency franchise in Europe, based in Paris. You will originate, structure and execute ECA‑backed financing transactions for corporate clients, supporting cross‑border trade and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and originate ECA‑backed and agency financing opportunities across sectors and a portfolio of French, Benelux and Irish clients.
• Negotiate term sheets, prepare credit memos and internal approval materials.
• Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, exporters, ECAs (BPIAE, Credendo, Atradius) and multilateral institutions.
• Lead end‑to‑end execution of complex buyer‑credit, supplier‑credit, guarantee and insurance structures, coordinating risk, legal and compliance teams.
• Monitor portfolio performance, manage ongoing client relationships and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• 5‑7+ years of experience in export finance, structured trade, project finance or corporate banking.
• Proven experience working with Export Credit Agencies and agency‑backed financing structures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Fluent in French and English; Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ECA products such as buyer credit, supplier credit, guarantees and insurance.
• Familiarity with loan documentation, preferably LMA standards.
