AI Engineer

About the role

Parallel is building AI agents to automate administrative processes in healthcare, starting with medical coding. As an AI Engineer you will shape the core AI architecture, define the machine‑learning strategy and embed intelligent systems directly into hospital workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy production‑ready LLM‑powered and agent‑based systems that automate medical coding in real clinical environments.
• Build secure, scalable data pipelines in collaboration with hospital IT, ensuring compliance with health‑data security standards.
• Integrate AI outputs into the applications used by doctors and hospital staff, and own the full lifecycle from research to monitoring.
• Partner with the CTO to define the AI roadmap and drive the AI strategy across the product.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience delivering applied ML/AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong expertise with large language models, NLP, prompt engineering and/or fine‑tuning.
• Proficiency in Python or Node.js and hands‑on experience with ML libraries such as Hugging Face, LangChain or PyTorch.
• High sense of ownership, ability to move quickly from prototype to product, and comfort working autonomously in a fast‑paced startup.
