Chief of Staff to the CTO - Engineering

About the role

Pennylane is looking for a senior leader to support the CTO in solving ambiguous, organization‑wide engineering problems. The role focuses on strategic initiatives that span multiple squads and requires strong technical credibility.

Key responsibilities

• Own strategic cross‑organization initiatives such as platform programmes, reliability, engineering productivity and technical debt reduction.
• Lead the tech planning cycle, define and calibrate OKRs, and hold the organisation accountable.
• Design and run the tech leadership operating system, including staff meetings, QBRs, roadmap and architecture reviews.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (computer science or equivalent).
• 7‑10 years of experience in large‑scale tech organisations with multiple squads.
• Proven track record of delivering complex cross‑functional initiatives.
• Outstanding written communication and fluency in English.
