Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Rust)

About the role

amo is looking for an early member of its Backend team in Paris. In the first months you will work closely with the team before gradually taking ownership of central components and features. The backend team covers both server-side and the backbone of the client, handling network, data modelling, management and synchronisation. The company works onsite five days a week in a central Paris office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop systems that handle large traffic and data and scale horizontally, using carefully chosen modern technologies.
• Maintain a shared Rust component used by iOS and Android, covering networking, data synchronisation and data-oriented feature logic, and work with mobile engineers on a unified codebase.
• Take part in brainstorming sessions and discussions to design and implement features.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, learning from each other and keeping up with industry trends.
• Monitor analytics, manage system crashes and own bug fixes.

Required profile

• Production experience with Rust, or a strong background in systems-level languages such as C++, C or OCaml.
• Experience with distributed systems in production (Kafka, Redpanda, ScyllaDB, Cassandra or similar).
• Good instincts for consumer social products.
• French and perfect English are not required; the company helps newcomers ramp up.
