Post‑Doc Fellowship – Numerical Prediction of LVAD‑Induced Aortic Remodeling

About the role
The post‑doctoral fellow will join the SAINBIOSE laboratory at Mines Saint‑Étienne to work on the TwinHeart project, developing a multi‑scale digital twin of the aorta under LVAD support. The research aims to predict vascular stiffening, pulse‑wave velocity changes and downstream cardiac remodeling.
Key responsibilities
- Develop biomechanical models of aortic wall response to LVAD‑induced loading, calibrated with in‑vivo imaging and histology.
- Implement growth‑and‑remodeling (G&R) frameworks to simulate fibrotic and aneurysmal transformations.
- Identify safe implantation zones and generate patient‑specific LVAD placement guidelines.
Required profile
- PhD in mechanics, biomechanics or a closely related field.
- Good knowledge of computational methods for mechanics and biomechanics.
- Experience in developing computational models and interest in coding.
Required skills
- Computational mechanics / biomechanics modeling.
- Multi‑scale modelling.
- Machine learning applied to biomechanical data.
- Programming (front‑end and back‑end development preferred).
