Operations & Reliability Manager

About the role

C12 is building a universal quantum computer using carbon‑nanotube qubits. The Operations & Reliability Manager will lead the team that keeps the Paris laboratory‑turned‑production facility running reliably, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement of equipment uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Build, lead and grow an Operations team of technicians, establishing operating rhythms and on‑call/shift coverage.
• Own facility and equipment availability, acting as escalation point for unresolved issues.
• Define and track KPIs such as uptime, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance ratios.
• Develop and execute a preventive‑maintenance programme for cryostats, cleanroom tools and utility systems, moving toward condition‑based and predictive maintenance.
• Maintain the facility data layer and monitoring dashboards in partnership with the Software team.
• Manage utilities (power, water, gas, HVAC, cryogenics) and coordinate external contractors while controlling the operations budget.
• Ensure safety procedures, emergency response readiness and up‑to‑date SOPs for high‑voltage, cryogenic and chemical systems.
• Collaborate with Production, R&D, Qubit Control and Software to meet service commitments.

Required profile

• 6‑8 years of experience in operations, maintenance or reliability in a high‑uptime environment.
• Proven track record of building preventive‑maintenance programmes and leading technical teams.
• Experience managing an operations budget and large‑scale external contractors.
• Strong understanding of facility utilities and ability to ramp quickly on cryogenics and cleanroom specifics.
• Hands‑on, rigorous and dependable, thriving in a scaling, ambiguous environment.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
