Senior Experimental Quantum Physicist

About the role

C12 Quantum Electronics is building a hybrid quantum architecture that combines spin qubits in carbon nanotubes with a circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) platform. The Qubit Control team develops the tuning protocols, readout strategies and gate implementations that make qubits work, collaborating daily with theory, engineering and software groups in the Paris lab.

Key responsibilities

• Design, calibrate and optimise DC and microwave experiments in dilution cryostats equipped with state‑of‑the‑art high‑frequency control electronics.
• Develop scalable, well‑documented measurement and analysis workflows that can run with increasing autonomy.
• Maintain a close feedback loop with engineering teams to continuously improve device performance.
• Work with the theory team to connect experimental observations with physical models.
• Collaborate with the software team on automation, from experiment scheduling to data analysis, as the platform scales toward a full QPU.
• Deepen understanding of spin qubits in carbon nanotubes integrated within high‑impedance cQED architectures.

Required profile

• Passionate about building a quantum computer and contributing to a major milestone in the field.
• PhD (or Masters with substantial research experience) in quantum physics or a closely related discipline, with post‑doctoral or industry experience.
• Hands‑on experience with quantum experiments, including qubits, DC transport and microwave spectroscopy.
• Strong background in instrumentation, metrology or automation of complex experiments.
• Fluent in Python and able to use it autonomously for experiment control, data processing and tool development.
• High scientific standards, result‑driven mindset, and clear communication in English.
• Experience mentoring PhD students or interns and working in a similar domain.
