HR Generalist – Maternity Cover (France)

About the role

Axis is seeking an HR Generalist to join its Southern Europe HR team on a maternity cover basis until the end of February. Based in the Bagneux office near Paris, you will work closely with the HR Manager and Office Managers in France, Spain, and Italy, supporting employees and managers across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full employee lifecycle, from drafting contracts and offer letters to handling off‑boarding.
• Oversee onboarding and integration of new hires to ensure a smooth experience.
• Serve as the primary contact for the payroll provider, guaranteeing accurate payroll processing for all covered countries.
• Maintain up‑to‑date employee records in the HR Information System (HRIS).
• Provide first‑line HR support to employees and managers on policies, procedures, and daily queries.
• Coordinate collective relations with Works Councils or equivalent bodies, preparing meetings and assisting in collective agreement negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with local labour laws across the region.
• Partner with managers to identify training needs, implement the annual training plan, and support career development discussions.
• Participate in recruitment activities, including interviewing candidates alongside the Talent Acquisition team.
• Lead or contribute to HR projects such as new process implementations, tool roll‑outs, and benefits programs.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in HR with experience in administration, employee relations, and talent development.
• Strong knowledge of French labour law and familiarity with European HR practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a virtual, multi‑country team.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to identify and drive improvements in HR processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HR Information Systems (HRIS).
