Air Export Specialist

About the role

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services company offering air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain services. As Air Export Specialist, you will facilitate the export of products, equipment and materials by air, in line with company policy and applicable local, national and international laws, while serving exporting customers on bookings, rates, documents, accounting, agent interaction and problem resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate the documentation needed for lawful and efficient air exports, and coordinate cargo pickup and transfer.
• Monitor shipment status and track shipments, updating customers and agents.
• Communicate with export authorities, customers and suppliers across relevant territories, and with overseas agents and clients on pre-alerts, rate requests and shipment status.
• Manage and update carrier and vendor rates, obtaining spot rates when needed.
• Create and maintain customer files, process customer invoicing and payable approvals, and audit files for accuracy.
• Enter data into the JWS system and assist other departments when requested.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; additional languages and geographical knowledge are a plus.
• Experience in the freight forwarding industry is a plus.
• Able to perform the duties without posing a direct threat to health or safety, and to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures.
