Cleanroom Engineer

About the role

C12 Quantum Electronics is seeking a Cleanroom Engineer to operate, maintain, and continuously improve cleanroom equipment supporting wafer fabrication for R&D and early production. You will work hands‑on with process tools in a fast‑moving startup environment, ensuring high safety, quality, and uptime standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular performance checks, calibration, and preventive maintenance on cleanroom tools.
• Troubleshoot and execute first‑line repairs, coordinating with equipment manufacturers and service engineers for installations, upgrades, and major repairs.
• Operate process tools for lithography, thin‑film deposition, and etching to support wafer production.
• Identify technical and operational risks, propose mitigation actions, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Manage facility‑related bottlenecks such as utilities, gases, vacuum, and HVAC.
• Develop and maintain safety standards, SOPs, and best operational practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Micro/Nano‑fabrication, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience in a cleanroom environment (academic or industrial).
• Strong awareness of cleanroom safety and chemical handling.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a startup setting.
• Fluency in English (working proficiency required).

Required skills

• Lithography.
• Thin‑film deposition techniques (PVD, CVD, ALD).
• Dry etching (RIE, ICP) and wet processing.
• Tool maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Vendor coordination and equipment installation.
