Wastewater Technology Consultant – CCAC TEAP

About the role

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Technology and Economic Assessment Panel seeks a consultant to produce a comprehensive report on wastewater technologies and their potential to abate methane and other short‑lived climate pollutants. The assignment is remote, lasts four months, and will culminate in a 25‑page report and a presentation for UNEP.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse a range of wastewater treatment technologies, focusing on methane and pollutant reduction potential.
• Evaluate business models, ownership structures, and geographic suitability for different site capacities.
• Assess efficacy of technologies across varied country contexts and over time.
• Identify key implementation challenges, including climate, material access, and regulatory factors.
• Compile cost estimates (CAPEX and OPEX) for each technology type and size.
• Determine investment attractiveness, recommending public policy interventions where private financing is insufficient, and provide case‑study examples of successful deployments.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in environmental engineering, climate science, or a related field.
• Proven experience conducting technical and economic assessments of wastewater or related environmental technologies.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex data into clear recommendations.
• Excellent written communication skills for report preparation and presentation delivery.
