Transverse Software Lead – Aircraft Connectivity Demonstrator

About the role

Join Airbus UpNext to lead the software side of a strategic demonstrator that will shape the future of aircraft connectivity. You will work in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment while leveraging Airbus’s deep aerospace expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement full‑stack applications (backend APIs and frontend tools) to ingest and visualise live telemetry data.
• Handle continuous streams of sensor data, ensuring offline‑first storage and automatic sync when connectivity is restored.
• Architect and manage multi‑account AWS environments with a focus on cost optimisation (FinOps).
• Establish secure networking between on‑board systems and the cloud using VPNs, firewalls and routing policies.
• Package and deploy software using Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate software directly with aircraft hardware, sensors and wireless access points.
• Utilise AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development and maintain code quality.
• Set up monitoring and observability for both edge hardware and cloud components.

Required profile

• Strong background in software and application development with end‑to‑end system architecture experience.
• Hands‑on expertise in ground‑to‑air communications and cybersecurity.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex data flows across multiple hops.
• Curiosity and agility with emerging development tools.
