Team Leader – Sorting Center (Shift Operations)

About the role

The Team Leader will manage a shift within a high‑volume sorting centre, ensuring parcels are processed efficiently while meeting quality and cost targets. Acting as the deputy to the Operations Manager when required, the role guarantees operational continuity and effective decision‑making across inbound, sorting and outbound flows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily sorting operations (inbound, sorting, outbound) and adjust manpower based on real‑time volume.
• Achieve KPIs such as throughput, scan compliance, error rate and dispatch timeliness.
• Conduct shift briefings, monitor attendance, productivity and discipline of 20‑50+ operators.
• Analyse shift performance, identify root causes of delays or mis‑sorts and implement corrective actions.
• Act as Operations Manager during absences, handling escalations, staffing shortages and system issues.
• Coordinate with linehaul, last‑mile, maintenance and HR teams to ensure smooth site‑wide operations.
• Enforce safety protocols and compliance with SOPs and labour regulations.

Required profile

• Experience in a sorting centre, warehouse or logistics hub, preferably high‑volume.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams of 20‑50+ operators.
• Solid understanding of operational KPIs (productivity, quality, cost per parcel).
• Ability to work under pressure, make fast decisions and adapt to volume fluctuations.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience using automated or semi‑automated sorting systems.
• Proficiency with performance dashboards and related reporting tools.
