Shoes Designer Intern

About the role

Maison Margiela is seeking a motivated Shoes Designer Intern for a six‑month period starting in July. The intern will work closely with the footwear design team, supporting the full creative process from research to final product.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the footwear design team with daily tasks and contribute to the creative design workflow.
• Maintain research archives, update collection boards and visual overviews.
• Create stitching toiles, conduct stitch trials, and prepare mock‑ups for finishing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional departments and communicate technical details.
• Prepare launch sheets containing technical specifications.
• Support fitting sessions and help organize fitting meetings.

Required profile

• MA degree in Fashion Design and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a fashion program.
• Availability for a six‑month internship starting in July.
• Strong knowledge of footwear design and fashion history.
• Fluency in English and French.
• High motivation to create high‑end collections and ability to work both independently and as a team player.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Expertise in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines.
• Knowledge of specific finishing techniques for footwear.
