Senior Mobile Engineer (AOSP) - Remote

About the role

Murena builds privacy-respecting mobile and cloud products: /e/OS, a de-Googled Android OS, and Murena Workspace, a cloud suite based on Nextcloud. It is a fully remote, multicultural team where most work is open source. You will join an experienced Android / AOSP team to implement its product roadmap, working on CI/CD, automated testing, code quality and AI-assisted development tools. The position is permanent, full-time and fully remote, with flexible hours, for someone based in France.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android and AOSP components of /e/OS in Java and Kotlin
• Design software architecture for new features and refactoring
• Industrialize team practices: CI/CD, automated tests and code quality checks
• Work across the stack when needed, including REST APIs and local Docker environments for testing
• Share experience through code reviews, pairing and technical discussions
• Help the team adopt AI-assisted development tools

Required profile

• 8+ years of Android development, with production experience on AOSP or the Android framework
• Experience designing maintainable software architectures
• Experience setting up or improving CI/CD and automated testing
• Experience sharing knowledge and acting as a technical reference in a team
• Fluent written and spoken English (mandatory)
• Experience working in a remote team

Required skills

• Strong Java and Kotlin, and experience with Gradle build systems
• REST APIs and local Docker environments
• Solid Git skills
• Nice to have: AOSP build system (Makefile, Blueprints), AI-assisted development tools, open-source contributions
