Senior Full Stack Engineer - Murena

About the role

Murena builds privacy-respecting mobile and cloud products: /e/OS, a de-Googled Android OS, and Murena Workspace, a cloud suite based on Nextcloud. You will join the Web team to implement its product roadmap, which aims to unify the B2B and B2C versions of Murena Workspace. The role is full-time, permanent and fully remote for candidates based in France, with flexible hours and a CET timezone.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Murena Workspace, mostly in PHP on the back end, and in JavaScript/TypeScript (Vue.js) and CSS on the front end.
• Design and build APIs, mainly in PHP and also in Python, Go or Java depending on project needs.
• Design data models and work with relational and other databases (queries, migrations, performance).
• Contribute to unifying the B2B and B2C versions of Murena Workspace.
• Keep the Nextcloud-based forks and other open-source forks in sync with upstream, using proper CI/CD and quality checks.
• Review code, share best practices and help the team adopt AI-assisted development tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of full stack web development, with strong back-end experience.
• Strong PHP experience, plus API/service experience in at least one of Python, Go or Java and willingness to work in the others.
• Experience designing maintainable, scalable software architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing, including shell scripting and containers (Docker).
• Fluent written and spoken English and experience working in a remote team.

Required skills

• PHP, SQL and data modelling (PostgreSQL or MariaDB/MySQL)
• JavaScript/TypeScript (Vue.js preferred), HTML and CSS
• Solid Git skills
• Nice to have: Nextcloud experience, fork maintenance, open-source contributions, interest in AI-assisted tools
