Senior Backend Engineer – Developer Experience (Remote, EMEA)

About the role

Hostaway is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Developer Experience team. You will help build the next generation of platform services and tooling that power the company’s AI‑driven vacation‑rental management system. The role is fully remote within the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new authentication and authorisation services alongside staff engineers.
• Extract bounded contexts from the monolith and create well‑defined Go and PHP services.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, service templates and CI/CD practices.
• Build, document and maintain observable RESTful APIs and contracts.
• Write unit, integration and contract tests to ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate with platform, security and product teams on cross‑cutting capabilities.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews and architectural discussions.

Required profile

• 6+ years of SaaS software development experience with production‑grade products.
• Proven ability to design and operate production services in Go; PHP knowledge is a plus.
• Deep understanding of authentication/authorisation protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT and RBAC/ABAC.
• Experience with multi‑tenancy, event‑driven and service‑oriented architectures, and Domain‑Driven Design.
• Track record of defining reusable architectural patterns and reference implementations.
• Strong English communication skills (C1 level).
