Lead Solutions Architect - Generative AI (EMEA Emerging DNB)
Databricks · Remote - France
Job description
About the role
Databricks is looking for a Lead Solutions Architect focused on Generative AI to support its EMEA Emerging Digital Natives and Startups business unit. Customers are digital-native, cloud-native companies that adopt GenAI early and expect technical partners as sharp as their own engineers. This is a highly technical, customer-facing individual contributor role based in France (remote/hybrid) with travel across Europe.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority on Generative AI, LLMs and applied machine learning for the EMEA Emerging DNB business unit, supporting the most strategic and complex customer engagements.
- Partner with Solutions Architects, Solutions Engineers and Account teams to scope, design and de-risk GenAI use cases, from RAG and agentic systems to fine-tuning and evaluation.
- Build hands-on proofs of concept and reference implementations of large-scale LLM and deep learning workloads on Databricks (Mosaic AI, MLflow, Model Serving, Vector Search, Unity Catalog).
- Lead fine-tuning and model customisation engagements on open LLMs, including judge-based and label-efficient evaluation.
- Bridge field and customer feedback to Product and Engineering, and represent the roadmap back to the field.
- Mentor the EMEA Emerging DNB Field Engineering team through workshops, reference architectures and enablement.
- Act as a technical thought leader externally, giving conference talks, writing blogs and briefing customers.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of the LLM landscape, with the ability to articulate an informed point of view to customers.
- Deep expertise in GenAI application patterns (RAG, agents, tool use), fine-tuning, prompt and evaluation engineering, and LLM guardrails.
- Foundations in machine learning and deep learning, including distributed training, GPU workloads and the full MLOps lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and consultative skills, and a track record of technical leadership and mentorship.
- Based in the United Kingdom, able to work across EMEA time zones and willing to travel to customer sites.
- Background helping digital-native customers build data and ML solutions is a strong plus.
Required skills
- Python and the ML ecosystem (PyTorch/Transformers, MLflow, Spark)
- Experience with the Databricks platform (Mosaic AI, Model Serving, Vector Search, Unity Catalog) or ability to ramp up quickly
- Cloud experience across AWS, Azure or GCP
