Lead Cloud DBA (Database Engineer)

About the role

LSEG is looking for a Lead Cloud Database Engineer to join its LCH SA Infrastructure & Cloud Team, which supports Post Trade Business Services. The role designs, deploys and maintains secure, scalable and highly available database systems in cloud environments, acts as the Single Point of Contact for all database matters and manages a growing team of database engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a growing team responsible for database management and provide mentorship on best practices and security.
• Implement and manage cloud-based database systems with secure access control, and develop and optimize database policies and procedures to comply with ANSSI and other security standards.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, and lead incident response for database-related issues.
• Design, implement and validate disaster recovery, backup and recovery strategies, and maintain incident response plans.
• Manage the database lifecycle: patching, upgrades, replication and migration, with minimal service disruption.
• Work with IT and security teams, monitor availability, latency and system health, and write optimized code for database solutions.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) to automate deployments, and scale databases sustainably through automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 8 years of experience managing and maintaining database infrastructure in regulated and/or highly available environments.
• Expertise in Oracle Enterprise, MySQL and PostgreSQL; Oracle DBA certification preferred.
• Proven experience with database migration projects.
• At least 2 years in a regulated environment with specific security constraints.
• At least 5 years of experience in systems monitoring and capacity management.

Required skills

• Advanced cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google) for at least 3 years.
• Scripting (Python, Bash) and automation/configuration tools (Ansible) for at least 3 years.
• Advantageous: VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, and on-call shift experience.
