iOS Software Engineer

About the role

Proton is looking for an iOS Software Engineer to join its Apple team and help build privacy‑focused applications for iPhone, iPad and macOS. You will work closely with product managers and engineers across the company to define and deliver high‑quality features that protect millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship new features for Proton’s iOS and macOS apps using Swift.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define what “great” looks like on Apple platforms.
• Maintain and extend the testing stack, including unit tests, snapshot tests, and XCUITest end‑to‑end flows.
• Integrate a Rust‑based logical core via a generic interface where applicable.
• Ensure app reliability through deep knowledge of APNs, background execution, and offline‑first data flows.

Required profile

• Proven experience building iOS applications with Swift.
• Passion for mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.
• Strong focus on user interaction, usability, and delivering an excellent user experience.
• Track record of leading complex technical projects and influencing change.
• Experience with concurrent programming, mobile memory management, and scalable architecture.
