Human Factors Specialist (M/F)

About the role

ATR, a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo, is recruiting a Human Factors Engineer/Specialist for its Engineering Directorate in Pierre's team of ten. The role supports the development, modification and certification of large aircraft (CS-25) and ensures HF, HMI and procedural compliance with international certification standards, contributing to operational safety, system robustness and the well-being of pilots, flight crew and maintenance personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse pilot tasks (HTA, CTA, workload) and evaluate workload, situational awareness and human error risks
• Take part in designing and validating normal and abnormal procedures
• Evaluate cockpit HMI against CS/FAR-25 and AMC Human Factors requirements, covering information legibility, display/alerting logic and mode consistency
• Identify HMI risks such as information overload and interface ambiguities and propose improvements with systems, avionics and system safety teams
• Provide critical evaluations under CS/FAR-25.1302, draft compliance demonstration and certification dossiers and take part in discussions with certification authorities
• Analyse user needs and activity, conduct Human Factors evaluations and formulate recommendations for current and future fleets
• Help define the development and verification strategy for human factors requirements and lead projects with partners and universities to improve aviation safety

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Human Factors/Ergonomics, System Engineering or a comparable field
• 5 to 10 years of significant experience in the aeronautical sector (manufacturer or supplier)
• Aeronautical experience (airlines, aviation authorities) and/or a pilot's licence are a major asset
• Fluent English and French; Italian is a plus

Required skills

• Knowledge of aircraft systems, flight operations and Human Factors certification regulations (CS-25, PART 21)
• Understanding of human behaviour (fatigue, stress, workload, situational awareness) and Human Factors methods for complex systems
• Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and to defend positions in sensitive situations
