HR Business Partner, EMEA

About the role

OpenAI is seeking an HR Business Partner to support its growing teams across EMEA, with a focus on France. The role will help build scalable, locally compliant people practices and strengthen employee relations as the organization expands.

Key responsibilities

• Lead employee‑representative work in France, managing CSE processes such as elections, consultations, communications, and governance.
• Build sustainable employee‑relations processes and provide practical guidance to managers operating within French employment frameworks.
• Partner with managers across EMEA on performance management cycles, feedback, organizational changes, and employee‑relations matters.
• Support and operationalize People programs, ensuring clear, scalable execution of performance, engagement, retention, and employee‑experience initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and triage employee‑relations issues, coordinating with Legal, Employee Relations, and other COEs on complex matters.
• Maintain operational rigor by tracking themes, documenting processes, and ensuring follow‑through on commitments.

Required profile

• Approximately 8+ years of HR experience, including senior HR generalist or HR Business Partner roles in fast‑paced, high‑growth or complex international environments.
• Hands‑on experience with French employment practices and employee‑representative bodies (CSE, works council, etc.).
• Strong project‑management skills, able to translate multi‑stage processes into clear milestones and operating procedures.
• Excellent judgment under pressure, balancing empathy, business needs, and risk management while handling sensitive matters.

Required skills

• Professional fluency in French and English.
