Head of Tax & Insurance – France

About the role

Novartis is seeking a Head of Tax & Insurance for its French operations. Based in Paris, you will shape the company’s tax and insurance strategy across all entities, acting as a trusted advisor to the Country CFO and Global Tax team while building a high‑performing, future‑ready tax function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the tax and insurance agenda for all Novartis entities in France, partnering with local and global stakeholders.
• Advise business leaders on French, EU and international tax developments and their impact.
• Own end‑to‑end tax compliance and risk management, ensuring alignment with local law and global policy.
• Manage tax audits, disputes and negotiations with French tax authorities, coordinating internal teams and external counsel.
• Oversee transfer pricing governance, documentation and intercompany positions.
• Drive tax planning for transactions and restructurings, identifying technology opportunities to improve transparency and efficiency.
• Coach, develop and inspire the France tax team, setting priorities and building capabilities.

Required profile

• University degree in Law or Business Administration with additional tax qualification.
• Extensive experience leading French corporate tax matters in a complex, regulated, international environment.
• Proven track record managing tax audits, disputes and negotiations with French tax authorities.
• Strong knowledge of international tax topics such as transfer pricing and tax transparency.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership experience, including coaching and change management.
• Fluent written and spoken French and English.
