General Counsel

About the role

We are hiring our first General Counsel to lead all legal and compliance matters as Sifflet expands globally. This senior position works closely with the CEO and leadership team in a fast‑growing SaaS/AI startup.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and scale the legal department across Europe and the US, acting as trusted advisor to the CEO, board, and leadership team.
• Draft, review, and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, NDAs, and strategic partnership contracts, creating scalable processes for high‑volume deals.
• Support corporate governance, shareholder relations, equity/ESOP administration, and assist with financing rounds and corporate structuring for the France HQ and US subsidiary.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, EU data/AI regulations, and security standards (ISO, SOC2); monitor emerging AI legislation and turn compliance into a competitive advantage.
• Provide legal guidance on French labor law, international employment frameworks, and support hiring and subsidiary setup in new markets.
• Leverage knowledge of US commercial law to facilitate the company’s expansion into the United States.

Required profile

• French bar‑certified lawyer with at least 8 years of experience, preferably a mix of law‑firm and in‑house roles at high‑growth SaaS/tech companies.
• Deep expertise in French commercial law and contract negotiation for enterprise SaaS.
• Experience with corporate governance, fundraising, and data protection (GDPR).
• Familiarity with US law and international expansion is a strong plus.
• Business‑oriented, pragmatic mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Full professional proficiency in French and English.
