Data Scientist

About the role

We are partnering with an innovative European AI company that applies cutting‑edge machine learning to scientific and chemistry challenges. The role is based in Lyon (hybrid) and offers the chance to see your models directly influence both research outcomes and commercial products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise machine learning models at the core of a proprietary AI platform.
• Build and maintain large‑scale data pipelines that transform millions of scientific records into high‑quality training datasets.
• Continuously improve model performance by integrating new research findings, experimental data and validation results.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and domain experts to translate complex scientific problems into scalable AI solutions.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and contribute to the evolution of the platform.

Required profile

• Strong academic background (MSc or PhD) in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry or related fields.
• Commercial experience applying machine learning to real‑world problems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non‑technical teams.
• Curious, analytical mindset motivated by complex challenges.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Modern machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• MLOps practices.
• Cloud platforms.
• Large language model tooling.
