Capability Building Expert (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Novartis is looking for a Capability Building Expert to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of sales training programs that strengthen capabilities, accelerate product knowledge and enhance customer engagement. The role works closely with commercial leaders to build a culture of continuous learning so teams can deliver better results for patients. This is a maternity cover from December 2026 to July 2027, based in the Paris headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run training for new and experienced sales associates on sales excellence, product knowledge, customer engagement and practical application.
• Assess capability levels across sales teams and identify learning needs.
• Design, run and evaluate workshops, learning journeys, virtual sessions and role-play exercises.
• Provide training materials and support for sales meetings, product launches and commercial initiatives.
• Partner with commercial leaders to build national capability strategies, core curricula and training plans.
• Drive continuous improvement through coaching, performance insights and capability assessments.
• Manage the learning budget and ensure timely reporting of technical complaints, adverse events and special cases within 24 hours.
• Support the distribution of marketing samples where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Education, Marketing or a related field.
• Proven experience in sales training, learning and development, commercial excellence or capability building.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical sales environments and customer engagement.
• Fluent English; additional local languages are an advantage.
• Desirable: experience in the pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industries, and certification in coaching, facilitation or adult learning.

• Designing and delivering adult learning programs with various methodologies.
• Use of learning technologies, training analytics and capability assessment tools.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching and communication skills.

• Annual base salary range of 47,300 to 87,800 EUR, with a possible performance-based bonus.
