Backend Engineer – Python & FastAPI

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to help build the core infrastructure of an AI‑powered platform that automates legal workflows for notaries and real‑estate professionals. You will join a small, high‑impact engineering team at a fast‑growing startup that has already achieved early product‑market fit.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain clean, well‑tested REST APIs using FastAPI.
• Implement business logic for document processing and data pipelines.
• Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and queries with SQLAlchemy.
• Integrate third‑party services such as Stripe, HubSpot, OCR and other AI providers.
• Develop background jobs and asynchronous pipelines using Celery and Redis.
• Write unit and integration tests and set up CI pipelines to ensure reliability at scale.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Strong understanding of REST API design, testing, and version control.
• Ability to work quickly, take ownership of features, and communicate clearly.
• Interest in AI, data pipelines, and legal‑tech automation.
