Android Developer – Cross‑Platform (Jetpack Compose & Rust)

About the role

Proton is looking for a full‑stack cross‑platform Android Engineer to help build Proton Inbox. You will work with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin and Rust to deliver a high‑quality, privacy‑focused mobile experience for millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications using a mix of native Kotlin and cross‑platform Rust code.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of features, from scoping and design through delivery and iteration.
• Explore and integrate new technologies and methodologies to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Optimize app performance, usability and responsiveness across a range of devices and screen sizes.
• Implement efficient memory management, multithreading and concurrency to ensure smooth operation.
• Design scalable solutions considering data caching, network bandwidth and server load.
• Maintain a customer‑centric mindset, continuously gathering feedback to improve the user experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for continuous learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience building Android applications with Kotlin.
