Software Backend Engineer

About the role

Electro Optic Systems (EOS) is seeking a Software Backend Engineer to join its backend team for the NiDAR platform. You will work closely with cross‑functional groups to design, build and optimise high‑performance backend services that operate in mission‑critical defence and space environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications in line with the product roadmap.
• Contribute to system architecture improvements and modernisation initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
• Communicate progress, risks and technical solutions proactively.
• Help continuously improve development practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (Master’s/PhD advantageous).
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in backend development using Golang and/or Python.
• Solid understanding of system design and architecture.
• Experience working in Linux environments and with networking concepts (TCP/IP).
• Proficiency with version‑control tools such as Git.
