Senior User Researcher

About the role

Alan builds prevention insurance, integrating insurance, prevention and care into a single user experience, and partners with 40,000+ companies serving more than 1 million members. Its User Research team sits at the intersection of product, design and engineering, and the Senior User Researcher gathers and prioritises questions across the company and designs research to answer them. The role is based in or near one of the hubs (Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid or Barcelona) and requires onsite presence twice per week.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and prioritise the most important questions from across the company and design the right research to answer them.
• Run interviews, diary studies, surveys and usability sessions throughout the full product cycle, not just at the end.
• Turn findings into clear, compelling insights for the teams that need them.
• Work with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers, and collaborate with analytics and data science teams to tell a complete product story.
• Help grow research culture across Alan and mentor teammates.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a product/user researcher in a tech environment.
• Strong critical thinking and strategic mindset, able to partner with product stakeholders and tie findings to business impact.
• Ability to mentor junior researchers or non-researchers.
• Care for healthcare, which is essential for the role.
• English fluency, written and spoken; French, Spanish or another European language is a plus.

Required skills

• Qualitative methods: interviews, diary studies, think-aloud usability testing and direct observation.
• Quantitative research: survey design, sampling, crosstabs and core statistical concepts.
• Close to AI, either having built AI products or following the space closely.
