Senior Sustainability Engineer - Chemical Process (EMEA)

About the role

Ball, a manufacturer of sustainable aluminium packaging, is hiring a Senior Sustainability Engineer for its EMEA chemical process function, based in France. The role focuses on achieving energy KPI goals, especially water, through auditing, standardization and implementation of best practices for efficient water, chemical and wastewater management. It is open to hybrid or fully remote work, depending on job requirements and manager approval.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for can washers, front-end lubricating systems and chemical processes used or potentially used in a can-making plant.
• Implement the Global Standards for best-in-class water and waste generation.
• Support Global Sustainability Engineering stakeholders in adopting those standards.
• Train BPAMEA plant employees on process steps and best practices for water and waste generation.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma across the implementation of the Global Standards.
• Plan capital projects supporting the Global Standards and turn global guidance and data into strategy and action plans for the BPAMEA region.
• Work with the supply base to identify new sustainability technologies and feed them back to Global Sustainability Engineering.

Required profile

• Basic chemistry working knowledge.
• University degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred).
• At least 6 years of experience in chemical process operations in can manufacturing or a related field.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory role leading chemical processes in can manufacturing or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Able to travel 50% to 70% of working time.

• Salary range of EUR 47,250 to EUR 68,040 gross per year, depending on education, experience and market conditions.
