Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Sysadmin / IaC)

About the role

Murena builds privacy-respecting mobile and cloud products: /e/OS, a de-Googled Android OS, and Murena Workspace, a cloud suite based on Nextcloud. Its infrastructure team is looking for a senior engineer to help the platform behind Murena Workspace and its /e/OS services grow and evolve. The current stack uses Ansible, a Postfix/Dovecot mail stack and Prometheus/Grafana monitoring, and the team is moving towards infrastructure as code, starting with SaltStack.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production Linux servers and services, including the mail stack (Postfix, Dovecot)
• Plan and run the migration of infrastructure to infrastructure as code, service by service, with minimal downtime
• Deploy SaltStack across the infrastructure
• Write and maintain infrastructure code (Ansible, SaltStack) in GitLab with code review and CI/CD
• Define the target stack and its practices
• Monitor services with Prometheus and Grafana, manage backups, apply security updates and handle incidents
• Protect services against abuse (spam, brute force, fraudulent accounts, excessive resource usage): detect, limit and respond
• Document what you build and share it with the team

Required profile

• 7+ years of system administration or infrastructure experience in production Linux environments
• Solid fundamentals: networking, DNS, TLS, storage, web servers, databases
• Experience migrating existing infrastructure progressively without breaking what works
• Fluent written and spoken English (mandatory)
• Experience working in a remote team

Required skills

• Configuration management and infrastructure as code: Ansible and/or SaltStack
• Linux mail server administration (Postfix, Dovecot)
• Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred)
• Prometheus, Grafana, backups and security hardening
• Abuse protection such as rate limiting and spam/brute-force protection
• Nice to have: Terraform/OpenTofu, Docker/Kubernetes, Nextcloud or similar PHP apps, identity/SSO services, open-source contributions
