Senior Director, Accounting & Controlling

About the role

This senior leadership position is based in France and will drive the transformation of a global accounting function within a fast‑growing, technology‑focused company. You will be responsible for the end‑to‑end accounting ecosystem, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls, and operational excellence across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global accounting function, overseeing month‑end close, financial reporting, internal controls and compliance.
• Build and scale a worldwide accounting operating model covering people, processes, systems, payroll and treasury.
• Provide expert technical accounting guidance on revenue recognition, commissions, equity, payroll, intercompany transactions, foreign‑exchange and policy interpretation.
• Partner with commercial and operational teams to design practical accounting solutions that support growth while managing risk.
• Hire, mentor and develop a high‑performing distributed accounting team.
• Identify automation opportunities and implement AI‑enabled tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Strengthen the control environment with a focus on SOX readiness and support strategic initiatives such as fundraising, M&A and IPO preparation.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers and other strategic partners.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience leading accounting, controlling or finance operations in a complex, multi‑entity, global environment.
• Strong technical accounting background covering revenue, commissions, equity, payroll, intercompany structures and financial policies.
• Experience in high‑growth software, SaaS or technology companies with recurring revenue models.
• Proven ability to lead through others while remaining hands‑on when needed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of automation and AI‑enabled finance tools.
• Understanding of SOX compliance and audit readiness.
