Senior Associate (Antitrust & Competition Economics) - EU

About the role

Charles River Associates, a global consulting firm offering economic, financial and strategic advice to law firms, corporations and governments, is hiring Senior Associates for its European Competition practice in Brussels, Düsseldorf and Munich, and Paris. Senior Associates work closely with senior consultants on project teams and take part in some of the largest and most significant competition cases in Europe, shaping the economic analysis and thinking behind them.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and conceptualise issues, specify rigorous economic models to analyse market issues and data, undertake statistical and econometric estimation, and manage research associate staff and colleagues
• Supervise, train and mentor research associate staff
• Help develop and present client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
• Act as a main point of contact for lawyers and other clients on practice-relevant issues
• Build models and run regression analyses in statistical software, including large data projects using cloud computing
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions
• Contribute to practice-building activities such as training, recruiting, publication and expertise sharing

Required profile

• PhD in economics completed by December 2026/Summer 2027, focused on applied microeconomics or applied microeconometrics (industrial organisation, labour, health, behavioural and public economics, or other quantitative areas)
• Ability to explain economic, financial and accounting concepts and quantitative and qualitative methods
• Strong written and oral communication, curiosity, initiative, teamwork and time management
• Demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience or CRA recruiting events

Required skills

• Excel, Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, ArcGIS/ArcPy
• Cloud computing platforms such as Databricks/Spark, Google Cloud, Azure or AWS
